The Beauty of Nina Simone

Posted by Watlington

If you listen to one album over the next few weeks, I suggest you dip into the recently released Very Best of Nina Simone. Her rich lyrics warm the heart at the deepest level. The CD begins with the song Ain't got no, I got life and includes famous numbers like I put a spell on you, Don't let me be misunderstood and My baby just cares for me. There are also a couple of renditions of two famous Bob Dylan songs The Times they are a Changin and Sinnerman. This is an album in which every song is a joy to hear - they almost come to life. Truly this is a CD to cheer the spirit. Pure genius. When Nina Simone died in 2003 her ashes were dropped over a number of African countries - she had brought happiness to millions over many years. Listen to this CD and you can understand why.
