Sometimes the good guys do come first

Posted by Watlington

Congratulations to George Freeman who was selected as Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Mid Norfolk last night. Mr Freeman is a thoroughly decent chap and is a staunch Conservative with a compassionate conscience. Mr Freeman has avoided the salons of Notting Hill and has been selected on his own merit. He fought Stevenage at the last election and ran a very creditable campaign slashing Labour's majority. Interestingly Mid Norfolk's selection contest was a mixture of old and new selection rules with an innovative speed dating contest in the second round. The selection rules for this contest were brokered by Gillian Shephard the former MP for the area and current Godmother of Norfolk Conservative politics.

Despite the difficulties and controversy of the A list, some very capable and good candidates are getting through the system. This is good news.
